BIOSECURITY MEASURES 2025
UPDATED BIOSECURITY POLICY
BIOSECURITY POLICY
BIOSECURITY POLICY
Competition declaration
In light of recent outbreaks of Strangles all over the UK , we must reiterate our policies. This applies to ALL equines coming to the showground. If you are found to be in breach of any of these rules, there will be serious consequences.
1. All horse and ponies must have Up-To-Date ‘Flu Vaccination and owners must bring their passports to prove this. DO NOT TRAVEL AN EQUINE IF A VACCINATION HAS BEEN ADMINISTERED IN THE PAST 7 DAYS
2. We expect all equines to have had their Temperature Taken Before Leaving Home. If the temperature is over 38.5 degrees, the animal should not travel to the event.
3. Also, a Visual Inspection for the other Symptoms should be made before travelling a horse or pony to one of our events.
Other symptoms include the following:
• Cough;
• Nasal Discharge;
• Enlarged Glands (under the lower jaw);
• Conjunctivitis;
• Depression;
• Loss of Appetite;
• Filling of the Lower Limbs.
We would also advise owners to be particularly vigilant if a new horse or pony has come onto their yard, especially those that have been recently imported.
Whilst at our events DO NOT-
1. DO NOT Let your horse graze
2. DO NOT Let them touch any other horses or stand too close to other horses
3. DO NOT Leave them tied to the trailer or lorry
4. DO NOT Let strangers touch your horses.
5. DO NOT Let them eat a haynet outside the lorry or trailer
6. DO NOT Go anywhere other than permitted areas.
7. DO NOT Hang around the arena or collecting rings once you have competed.
All of the above must be complied with and are a condition of entering our events.
It is up to each and everyone of you to be vigilant, stay away from other horses- do not share water and take responsibility for keeping your horses safe.
